What was the “aha” moment that led you to start your company?
When I was reading data sheets on the effects of the cleaning products we were using on board. The boat soap warned “using this product daily could cause respiratory issues and cancer” I knew that there had to be a better way to make cleaning products that performed well and didn’t make people ill.
What has been your biggest challenge as a young founder in this industry?
At the start, it was difficult getting people to take you seriously, and finding good reliable manufactures and logistics companies. I think I was quite naive at the start of how long the manufacturing and development process would take.
Where would you be without your business?
I can’t imagine not having washdown, but I think if I hadn’t set up Washdown I would have set up impact program/charity or set up another business like sustainable clothing or cosmetics company

Any advice for young aspiring entrepreneurs?
Trust your gut instinct and never over estimate what you can do in one year but don’t underestimate what you can do in five years
What are you most looking forward to in 2025?
Growing washdown and expanding into different markets, we’re launching a home range this year which I’m super excited about as it brings the superyacht standard to your home.
