ARKHAUS Acquires Arkup, evolves into The Ark Companies to scale an all-electric maritime ecosystem

ARKHAUS, a membership-based floating club founded in Miami, has acquired Arkup, the company known for its self-sustaining, electric-powered livable vessels. Following the acquisition, ARKHAUS will rebrand as The Ark Companies, consolidating its activities across hospitality, transportation, and vessel manufacturing under one umbrella.

The acquisition gives The Ark Companies full ownership of the design, engineering, and manufacturing processes behind its floating venues. The move is designed to support greater scalability and reduce reliance on third-party vendors as the company prepares to expand its presence in other coastal cities.

A fully integrated maritime ecosystem

ARKHAUS is launching its first location in Miami as a private club on the water, built on solar-electric vessels designed to function off-grid. By acquiring the company that designed and built those vessels, The Ark Companies has gained the ability to manage the full lifecycle of each location, from vessel development to daily operations.

The acquisition of Arkup and our evolution into The Ark Companies represent a bold leap forward,” said Co-Founder and CEO Sam Payrovi.By uniting design, manufacturing, and operations under one roof, we’re building the first fully integrated ecosystem for maritime hospitality. This positions us to scale with speed, precision, and purpose.”

The new structure reflects a long-term goal of expanding ARKHAUS locations in cities like New York, San Francisco, and Newport Beach, as well as international markets. Future plans also include a waterborne transportation offering via {E-LIXR}, an all-electric ride share platform, as well as new applications for Arkup’s electric vessel technology.

Centralizing and expanding operations

The company has already begun raising additional capital through a campaign on WeFunder. Proceeds will go toward completing the Miami location and expanding production capacity at Arkup’s manufacturing facility.

Early memberships for ARKHAUS Miami have sold out, with its initial cohort comprising entrepreneurs and creative professionals. The vessels themselves are solar-powered, feature electric propulsion, and are designed to minimize ecological impact in sensitive marine environments.

The Ark Companies will retain the ARKHAUS brand for its hospitality operations while using the Arkup brand for manufacturing and R&D. The new parent entity, The Ark Companies, will act as a coordinating body across these functions.

Centralizing operations is essential in order to offer a repeatable model for off-grid, water-based development in multiple cities. Conversations are also underway with partners in marine conservation and coastal development to explore collaborative uses of the vessels beyond leisure and entertainment.

The Ark Companies sees their platform as a form of modular infrastructure, floating, zero-emission, and designed for people to spend time on, that could be adapted for a range of applications.

The Ark Companies now operates as a vertically integrated group managing design, production, and operations across the maritime sector. Its leadership team includes founders of both ARKHAUS and Arkup, and plans are underway to expand the team in anticipation of multi-city deployment.
