Building in 2026 w/ Lyam Last

As part of our new series, we ask founders a short set of questions about how they’re planning to build in 2026 – what they’re prioritising, where they’re looking to improve as founders, and how they see the industry evolving.

This week, we hear from Lyam Last, co-founder of Nauticare.

What will change most in your part of the industry in 2026?

The shift from fragmented, manual processes to integrated, data-driven yacht operations. In 2026, we’ll see far more automation, real-time insights, and preventive maintenance replacing reactive management.

How is your startup contributing to this change?

Nauticare is building a unified, AI-powered yacht management platform that centralises operations and automates workflows.

We are actively working toward preventive maintenance by structuring and analysing real operational data, helping the industry move from reactive to proactive yacht management.

What industry event are you most excited for in 2026?

Every industry event is important, but Palma is always a great one as it really kicks off the season.

That said, Monaco Yacht Show and METSTRADE remain the most impactful for us, as they bring together key decision-makers and innovators, making them ideal moments to connect, showcase progress, and shape what’s next for the industry.

What’s one personal goal you’ve set in 2026?

To grow Nauticare into a product that is genuinely trusted and used daily by professionals in the industry, while continuing to develop ourselves as founders and leaders.

What are you doing less of as a founder in 2026?

Spending less time on assumptions and more time listening closely to user feedback. Going into 2026, I want to be very intentional about building based on real needs and workflows, so the platform truly supports how professionals operate day to day.

If you weren’t building your current company, what would you build instead?

That’s a good question… I’m very focused on what we’re building with Nauticare. If I had to choose, it would still be something in a traditional industry where technology can make a real, practical impact.
