Brush ‘n Go expands its environmentally friendly hull cleaning technology with a new solution designed to help marinas improve water quality while creating additional revenue opportunities.
Finnish marine technology company BNG Services Ltd, creator of the Brush ‘n Go® boat hull cleaning concept, has launched a Wastewater Management System designed specifically for boat hull cleaning operations.
The new solution addresses one of the marine industry’s most overlooked environmental challenges: the management of wastewater and biofouling residue generated during hull cleaning.
By capturing and managing waste removed from vessel hulls, the system helps prevent contaminants from immediately re-entering the marine environment and supports marinas in meeting increasingly stringent environmental requirements.
Founded in 2020, BNG Services has rapidly expanded its hull cleaning services across Finland and now operates in more than 60 marinas.
The company has built its business around providing boat owners with a practical alternative to traditional antifouling paints, helping reduce the environmental impact of recreational boating while maintaining vessel performance.
The launch of the Wastewater Management System marks the next stage in the company’s sustainability mission.
During hull cleaning, organic growth such as algae, biofilm and barnacles is removed from the vessel’s surface. Traditionally, this material is released directly back into the water.
BNG’s new system is designed to capture and manage this waste stream, creating a more comprehensive approach to environmentally responsible hull maintenance.
The innovation is particularly relevant as marinas face increasing pressure from regulators, customers and local communities to improve environmental performance.
In addition to its environmental benefits, the system creates a new service offering for marinas, enabling operators to generate additional revenue while strengthening their sustainability credentials.
According to BNG Services, the Wastewater Management System can be integrated into both new and existing Brush ‘n Go installations, making it a scalable solution for marina operators seeking to future-proof their facilities.
Tomi Koivulehto, CEO of BNG Services Ltd, said:
“Our original focus was to provide boat owners with a toxin-free alternative to traditional hull maintenance. However, we recognised that there was another challenge that needed to be addressed – what happens to the material removed during the cleaning process.
This new system allows us to take a more holistic approach to sustainable hull maintenance and supports marinas that want to lead the way in environmental responsibility.”
As recreational boating continues to grow worldwide, solutions that balance convenience, performance and environmental stewardship are becoming increasingly important.
Through the combination of chemical-free hull cleaning and wastewater management, BNG Services aims to set a new benchmark for sustainable hull maintenance and help marinas deliver cleaner waterways for future generations.
