Ghinis Boats, a Portuguese startup founded by Jorge Ghinis and based in the Algarve, is set to launch its 33-foot prototype, featuring a combination of innovation, accessibility, and intelligent use of space.
At the core of the project is a patented outboard engine repositioning system, which allows the engines to pivot to the sides when the vessel is anchored. This unique solution frees up to 70% of the aft deck, transforming the area into a social and functional space, ideal for leisure and entertainment.
Designed specifically for the under-40-foot segment, which accounts for over 80% of the global recreational boating market, the Ghinis 33 is built in marine grade aluminium, combining durability, sustainability, and reduced maintenance.
Unlike traditional boats in its category, it includes internal storage for a jet ski, an essential feature given that over 300,000 units are sold annually worldwide. The boat is also equipped with an embedded lift system for people with reduced mobility, reinforcing its mission to offer a truly inclusive and versatile on-water experience.

Founder Jorge Ghinis emphasises the company’s user-centered philosophy: “We’re creating a boat that reflects how people actually live onboard — relaxing, socialising, and making the most of every square meter. Our patent directly addresses one of the biggest pain points in boats with outboards: lack of usable space.”
Looking ahead, Ghinis Boats has ambitious plans for electrification and defence applications. The company is working on military and civilian adaptations, including a high-speed tactical version capable of transporting and deploying an electric jet ski from within the boat itself.

The company has garnered support from CRIA (University of Algarve) and IPN (University of Coimbra) and is a member of Unicorn Factory Lisboa. Ghinis Boats is also recognised by Startup Portugal as an officially certified startup.

Now entering its fundraising phase, Ghinis Boats is actively seeking strategic investors and partners to finalise production and scale internationally. The startup is especially focused on entering the U.S. market via the E-2 visa program, offering investors not only equity in a high-potential product but also a path to U.S. residency through business creation.
Dubai and other high-end tourism hubs are also seen as prime markets for the Ghinis 33, given its spacious layout, customisation potential, and appeal to luxury charter operations and waterfront resorts.
