E-lixr has announced a major pivot in its business model and market strategy. Previously focused on becoming the first nationwide operator of all-electric vessels, the company has redefined its approach to empower existing and new operators through a unified platform.
This strategic shift aims to create a nationwide and international network of all-electric operators under a single, recognizable brand.
By adopting this platform-based model, E-lixr can work with legacy operators or create new ones, enabling rapid scalability. The new go to market positions E-lixr as a resource and enabler for operators looking to modernize, decarbonize, and streamline their operations. The shift opens the door for international operators to join the network, accelerating its global reach and impact.
“Our goal is to make all-electric waterborne transportation accessible and ubiquitous. This approach not only benefits operators but also expedites the transition to sustainable water transportation,” said Sam Payrovi, E-lixr CEO and Co-founder.
Building the Network
E-lixr plans to establish a robust network of operators across the U.S. and in international markets. Existing medium and large scale operators or individual entrepreneurs operating in smaller waterways, will be invited to join. In regions without suitable operators, E-lixr will partner with new entities or individuals to establish operations.
The company will provide network operators with a comprehensive suite of tools, resources, and services to launch and sustain an all-electric water taxi or ferry service. This includes access to approved electric vessels, simplified financing solutions, technology platforms for ticketing, routing, and onboard transactions, marketing campaigns to build ridership, charging infrastructure installation and maintenance, regulatory and legal support.
“We’re making it as seamless as possible for operators to transition to electric. Our platform is designed to handle the heavy lifting so operators can focus on serving their customers,” adds Sam.
Technology and Operational Support
The E-lixr platform extends beyond physical infrastructure. Operators will benefit from a centralized technology ecosystem that integrates rider, captain, and host applications. This technology powers everything from ticket sales to onboard hospitality and facilitates first- and last-mile connections through partnerships with rideshare services.
“Riders will be able to book an entire journey, from home to waterfront to destination, all in a single transaction,” Sam explained. “This convenience dramatically expands the customer base for our operators.”
E-lixr will also offer training for vessel maintenance and provide access to certified technicians for complex repairs, ensuring uninterrupted service.
Expanding Vessel Options
E-lixr has extensive knowledge of global electric vessel manufacturers (OEMs) and their commercial capabilities. While the company has designed its own vessel to meet U.S. Coast Guard commercial inspection requirements, it recognizes the need for a diverse fleet to serve various waterways and operational demands.
To address this, E-lixr will partner with OEMs worldwide, approve their vessels for network use, and set them up for US production. The company plans to establish a dedicated U.S. shipyard, providing international OEMs with a production hub and accelerating the adoption of electric vessels.
“This shipyard isn’t just a production facility, it’s a campus for innovation. It will bring together naval architects, propulsion experts, and other stakeholders to push the boundaries of sustainable marine technology, all in one place”
Scaling Nationwide and Beyond
E-lixr is actively seeking operators to join its network across the U.S., with plans to expand internationally. Larger metropolitan markets, such as New York City, Baltimore, and Seattle, may host multiple operators, while smaller markets will see localized operations supported by E-lixr’s platform.
While E-lixr is launching as the operator in its home market of Miami and potentially in a few other markets, the company will hand these operations off to 3rd parties over time. The company’s primary focus remains empowering operators to lead the charge in sustainable waterborne transportation.
“Our vision is clear: a unified, all-electric network delivering reliable, eco-friendly waterborne transportation,” Sam concluded.
