Startup Spotlight: Seago

We have a vibrant and diverse group of startups in our community, each with its own unique journey and entrepreneurial story. The Startup Spotlight series aims to introduce you to their ventures. This week, we feature Vincenzo Perfetti who is building Seago, a mobile app that serves as a directory for businesses and professionals in the marine industry.

How did you come up with the idea for the business?

Seago App is an innovative solution that arose from a noticeable gap in the market for competitive tools and apps designed to streamline the hiring process for contractors in the yacht industry. As the demand for skilled labor continues to rise, professionals are faced with the challenge of sourcing and hiring qualified workers in a timely and efficient manner.

Why does the industry need the solution you're providing?

Two of the main issues are the fragmentation across the boat industry and the lack of a centralised platform for users to find and hire contractors.

The traditional methods of hiring contractors and crew have proven to be time-consuming, inefficient, and often costly. The lack of a centralised platform for connecting contractors with clients has hindered the process and led to frustration on both ends.

The need for such a platform became apparent as current alternatives were deemed to be more expensive and somewhat obsolete.

With Seago App, marine professionals can effectively showcase their services and reach a larger audience of potential clients. Whether it's yacht maintenance, refit or repairs projects, sailing lessons or the need of hiring crew, Seago app allows professionals to create a profile and highlight their offerings in a visually appealing and user-friendly interface.

What have you enjoyed most about starting your own company?

One of the most enjoyable aspects of starting Seago App has been the realisation of the immense potential market within the ever-expanding boat industry. As we delved into market research and conducted customer surveys, it became clear that there is a significant demand for a tool like Seago App that can streamline processes and improve efficiency in the industry.

What challenges did you have to overcome at the beginning of your journey?

At the start of our journey one of the main challenges faced was the task of assembling a team of skilled IT professionals with a background in the yacht industry. This was crucial in order to ensure that the app catered to the specific needs and requirements of users in the industry.

Additionally, the creation of a user-friendly and visually captivating interface, achieving a balance between functionality and aesthetics has also been challenging but at the same time exciting and rewarding.

Any bits of advice for entrepreneurs getting started in this space?

When it comes to entering the yacht industry as an entrepreneur, I believe that studying the industry thoroughly is crucial for success. The yacht industry is distinct with its own set of dynamics and mechanisms that may not be immediately apparent to newcomers.

What's the plan for the future of the business? Where do you see the company in 3-5 years?

Seago App aims to become the go-to tool in the boat industry as it expands its services to include further features, integrating other essential tools such as weather forecasts and navigation routes.

By offering a comprehensive platform that addresses the diverse needs of boat owners, crew and enthusiasts, Seago App aims to provide a one-stop solution for all boating related needs.
