Startup SOS to debut new digital safety feature at Metstrade, inspired by feedback from Bayesian sinking

Superyacht Operating Systems (SOS), a pioneer in superyacht operational systems founded by yacht captain David Clarke, will present its guest-focused Charter Guest app at Metstrade, and debut a new digital safety feature developed off the back of the tragedy surrounding the Bayesian sinking in August 2024.

Spearheaded by the mother-daughter team of Jodie and Keira Clarke, the Charter Guest app serves as a complete digital hub, replacing paper binders to elevate the guest experience and significantly reduce crew admin.

A Legacy of Expertise

SOS began in 2013 when yacht captain David Clarke launched a free online library of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for crew, quickly earning industry-wide trust. This expertise is now embedded in the Luxe App, SOS’s digital operational knowledge hub.

Building on this legacy, the Charter Guest app is a digital hub that eliminates the outdated paper binder. The app is uniquely designed to enhance the onboard experience, setting it apart from similar offerings centred on the broker’s role.

“From zoomable deck plans to nautically-correct routes overlaid on Google Earth, enhanced by AI-generated destination guides, Charter Guest transforms the guest experience from passive to interactive,” said Jodie Clarke.

“It’s a tool designed for crew, by crew, making operational efficiency and guest satisfaction effortless. We centralise everything a guest needs – from daily menus and crew bios to activity summaries and Wi-Fi details – and are capable of seamlessly integrating with Crestron.”

New digital safety feature in response to Bayesian tragedy

At Metstrade, SOS will unveil a new Guest Emergency Procedure Sign-off feature. Developed in response to captain feedback after the Bayesian sinking, this optional tool allows guests to digitally acknowledge they have read the safety procedures.

“This was the number one feature requested by captains,” said Keira Clarke, who helps lead the Charter Guest division. “It’s a simple, verifiable step that enhances onboard safety and reduces administrative liability.”

Jodie and Keira Clarke have become known figures at trade shows since launching Charter Guest in late 2023 and will be available at the stand for live demos. As part of a special Metstrade promotion, new sign-ups will also receive one year of complimentary access to this add-on, a €600 value.

“We built this app based on real problems we faced on board,” said Jodie. “We’re excited to meet the community at Metstrade, show them the tools, and continue learning how we can make life easier for crews and their guests.”
