Marine Innovations is a UK-based startup disrupting the recreational marine industry with their boating inventions that aim to increase practicality and simplicity for everyday tasks on board.
Founded by husband and wife Bradley and Rachel Davis, the company launched officially at the Southampton Boat Show in September 2023. Frustrated by the lack of affordable, user-friendly equipment on the market, the couple set out to create robust, practical products designed to improve the boating experience for everyone, from seasoned sailors to newcomers.
Bradley, an experienced boater and engineer, drew on years of firsthand insight to develop products that address common onboard challenges. Rachel, with a background in project management, helped turn the couple’s vision into a viable business. Together, they’ve grown Marine Innovations into a five-product range that truly resonates with everyday boaters, with growing demand across the UK and beyond.

Core Products: Function-Led Design
At the heart of Marine Innovations’ range is the Fendermate, an adjustable fender hanger designed to eliminate the frustration of tying and retying fenders. The Fendermate offers easy, knot-free fender adjustment with instant height control, universal fit for rails and wires, both vertically and horizontally, and is constructed from a durable recycled marine-grade glass fibre nylon for reliable use in all conditions. The product has quickly become a customer favourite for its simplicity and reliability, and is already being recommended by RYA instructors and marina staff alike.
Iain Harvey-Ashenhurst, Principal and lead RYA Instructor at Burton Waters Boat Training commented: “The Marine Innovations Fendermate is a genuinely game-changing product. It’s clear that ease of use and accessibility for boaters of all experience levels have been central to its design. We regularly recommend it to our clients, both seasoned boaters and those new to the water.”

Other key products include the Rope Looper, a tool that simplifies mooring for solo or less experienced boaters, and the Boat Bar, a secure drinks holder designed for life afloat. Each product is built to withstand harsh marine conditions and tested in real-world boating environments. Marine Innovations has partnered with Force 4 Chandlery to offer UK customers both in-store and online access to its products. Additionally, Marine Innovations provides direct UK and international shipping through its own distribution channels.
Positive reviews and word-of-mouth referrals are playing a major role in the company’s early traction, with testimonials from instructors and marina operators citing the range’s ease of use and quality build.
In particular, the company has been praised for increasing inclusivity in the boating space, with one boater stating: “These products help experienced boaters by removing the hassle of tying complicated knots. More importantly, from my perspective as a lead lecturer in equality, diversity and inclusion, they play a valuable role in improving access and equity for those who may face additional barriers in boating.”
Marine Innovations is steadily building its presence in the boating community and will take part in key industry events this year to increase visibility and connect with a wider audience. The company has been selected to exhibit in the Metstrade 2025 Startup Area, part of the industry’s leading B2B trade show, and will also return to the Southampton Boat Show in September.
These events support the company’s focus on growing their distribution network and building relationships with potential partners and investors. As interest in their products grows across both the leisure marine and innovation sectors, Marine Innovations is establishing itself as a practical and forward-thinking player in the space.
