Updates tailored to you.
Our Startup Spotlight series introduces you to the creative minds in our community, sharing their unique stories and ideas. This week, we put the spotlight on Pablo Zimbron, Co-Founder and CEO of 3D Boats, whose cutting-edge technology offers manufacturers, dealers, and boaters a unique solution for showcasing boats online.
Our story began with a simple observation: the marine industry was being left behind by technology. We saw a world where you could tour hotels, museums, and real estate from your laptop, yet boat shopping was still stuck in an era of flat, static images and videos. There was a clear and unmet demand for a more immersive and consistent online experience.
The idea for 3D Boats was born from that gap. We set out on a mission to revolutionize the online boat industry with cutting-edge 3D scanning technology.
The industry desperately needs to bridge the gap between online Browse and in-person visits. Today’s customers expect rich, interactive experiences, but the marine industry still largely relies on static photos that fail to capture the essence of a vessel. This creates a disconnect for buyers and results in less qualified leads for dealers and manufacturers.
Our solution directly addresses this by meeting the clear market demand for immersive digital showcases. We offer more than just a virtual tour;we provide an Online Sales Solution. Our Digital Sales Room (DSR) allows for real-time interaction between a salesperson and a buyer directly within the 3D model.
What we’ve enjoyed most is being on the front lines of truly revolutionizing an industry. Every boat we capture is a step toward setting a new industry standard for how people shop for and sell boats online.
There’s immense satisfaction in building what we intend to be the largest repository of quality 3D boat imagery in the World. We started with an idea and have now physically built a library of 250 processed boat tours, with over 130 more in the pipeline. Watching that tangible asset grow, knowing that each addition provides more value to our future clients and the boating community, has been the most rewarding part of our journey.

Our primary challenge was navigating the boating industry’s complex layers. We quickly learned that manufacturers and dealers have vastly different needs, which forced us to move beyond a single product. This led us to develop a more flexible solution with distinct offerings, such as our embeddable 3D Showcases and the interactive Digital Sales Room (DSR), to effectively serve each segment of the market.
What’s immediately next for us is focused on aggressive growth and content acquisition. Our priority is to significantly expand our library of virtual boat tours by processing the 130+ raw captures we have in our backlog. We are also increasing our presence at boat shows to capture more vessels and build key industry relationships, all while launching targeted marketing efforts to bring our unique solution to a wider audience.
In 3-5 years, we see 3D Boats as the undisputed digital showroom of the US marine industry. Our vision is to be the largest repository of quality 3D boat imagery and become an indispensable tool for dealers and manufacturers worldwide.
Our top advice is to get an industry expert on board as soon as possible. The marine industry is complex, with vastly different needs for manufacturers versus dealers. An expert provides an invaluable shortcut through that steep learning curve.
I like the words of author John C. Maxwell: “Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.”I saw the inevitable change in customer expectations the marine industry’s reliance on static images and videos simply wasn’t sustainable in the modern digital world.
The second part of that quote, however, is a personal philosophy. For me, choosing to grow is about actively shaping that future, not just reacting to it. Launching 3D Boats was my choice to build a solution that doesn’t just adapt to change, but helps set a new standard for the entire industry.
